“It pushed me out, into the light, and at first I was so nervous, not about singing, about standing in front of people and messing up but when I did it, the confidence just came and when you’re up there you realise it’s not as scary as you imagined, it’s a lot more fun than you think it is. This was the first time I sang a verse on my own.”

Hume Studios was a unique performance event where dancers, musicians and vocalists from Pasifika, hip hop and classical genres, and Middle Eastern drummers, combined to highlight the best of Hume’s mighty arsenal of emerging talent.

Outer Urban Projects, Hume Central Secondary College, Roxburgh Park College and Hume City Council partnered to create Hume Studios with support from Creative Suburbs investment program by Creative Victoria. Hume Studios was an eighteen month performance workshop residency program in dance and spoken word culminating in a work in progress at Hume Central School and a weekend of showcases at Kangan Tafe, Broadmeadows.
