“There was a high level of engagement and interaction with the industry professionals and this had a profound impact on the residency participants. Outer Urban Projects has a strong level of professionalism that participants were exposed to. They benefited in understanding how to compose, rehearse, refine and overall prepare a piece of music from the very beginning right through to the performance. It was impressive and thoroughly enjoyable to be a part of.”
Outer Urban Projects in collaboration with City of Casey, Hampton Park Secondary College and Cardinia Library delivered Zone Casey Residencies from 2018 – 2021. The residency program open to young participants offered tutorials, mentorships and masterclasses in combined and one-on-one craft-based workshops. It built participants confidence, skill and collaboration across different performing art forms including rap, writing, spoken word and Afro-fusion, hip-hop and Pasifika dance. The residency had multiple performance outcomes and continued with online tutorials during Melbourne’s COVID-19 lockdowns.
