"In the last five years Outer Urban Projects has uncovered and connected many wonderful emerging artists that reside in the outer northern suburbs. We have developed a community of associate artists that support, nurture and excite each other"

Identifying diverse artists and arts workers within OUP’s Community Access Program who are seeking to advance their creative and performing arts practice. The Associate Artist Program is the creative engine that will support these artists to develop, create and produce new Major Works in collaboration with Established Artist/Mentors/Producers. The objective of this Platform is to sharpen emerging artists’ conceptual and collaborative capacity, to expand their repertoire in their chosen genres and afford them a presentation of their work. Associate Artists will also be supported to develop their work within  the Urban Studio, our new Digital and Radio Pathway and Residencies Platform.

Artists will submit a concept-based expression of interest which will form the basis of their residency and original work and will include a creative development and showing of their work with a view to production.  Artists are  paired with established artists/mentors over a two year period.

The key objective of this Program is to sharpen artists’ conceptual and collaborative capacity, expand their repertoire in their chosen genres, afford them a showcasing of their original work and pitch these works for market placement fringe and mainstream festivals, live music venues and touring opportunities.

This Program will also provide these young artists with skills across grant writing, marketing and networking and media calls to encourage their careers as independent performance makers and independent working artists.
