Outer Urban Projects is seeking a Board Director to work with the existing Board to support the continued growth and development of the company.
The role of a Board Director
The Outer Urban Projects Board is responsible for making strategic decisions and ensuring good governance of the company. This includes setting strategic direction, overseeing financial and staffing decisions and ensuring that the Board and the company are complying with all their legal duties.
Qualities we are seeking in Board Director
We are seeking a Board Director from within Outer Urban Projects' community of interest—artists and arts workers and community leaders in the outer northern suburbs of Naarm/Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges across the region.
We strongly encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups, including young people, migrants, refugees, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, First Nations people, those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, LGBTIQA+ communities, Deaf or visually impaired individuals, people with disabilities, and those in regional or remote areas across Australia.
No formal qualifications or experience is required. Board and governance training can be made available where required.
The role will require attendance at five Board meetings annually, relevant subcommittee meetings, an annual strategic planning day, as well as other ad hoc training and a commitment to using your skills to support the organisation to flourish. Meetings are held at Outer Urban Projects’ headquarters in Coburg North and online. The role is unpaid, however case-by-case support to participate fully may be available to some Board members depending on individual circumstances.
Board terms are for 2 x three-year terms with the option of a third term.

Applications are currently open with no set deadline. Interviews will be conducted by members of the Board at a time that is mutually suitable for applicant and the Board.
